Environmental Compliance Audits

Environmental Compliance Audits, like financial audits, are becoming standard business practice. As environmental regulations grow in complexity, and penalties become more severe, many companies are conducting audits to insure regulatory compliance and decrease the risk of environmental liability. This trend has been strongly encouraged by the EPA, Congress, and environmentalists.

EMT has the experience in working with corporate legal staff and outside counsel serving to reduce the risks associated with compliance audits. At the clients request, EMT has worked in conjunction with plant personnel to permit the audit to be utilized as a training tool. Our professional staff has extensive experience in the federal and state regulations regarding numerous types of plant operations.

EMT, in collaboration with Meverden Environmental, Inc., has the experience to design and conduct audits for industry. Over 30 compliance audits have been conducted in lead-acid battery, plastics, automotive drive train, brass musical instrument and consumer and industrial chemical manufacturers. Activities generally involve an initial meeting, plant and file reviews, and a closing conference. A regulatory review is conducted following familiarization with plant processes to guarantee that industry specific codes are incorporated into the assessment. A final report is prepared, outlining the conclusions and recommendations, following development and review of a draft report.
