EMS/ISO 14000 Program Development

EMT and Meverden Environmental are well versed in the ISO 14000 series of environmental management standards. Historically, the ISO standards addressed primarily technical product or manufacturing standards. It then evolved into quality control management systems and is currently addressing environmental management systems.

The first step in meeting the ISO 14001 standard is a comprehensive environmental survey and an ISO 14001 gap analysis. This would include a comprehensive review of existing programs and development of environmental information relating to your operations. This is typically followed by development of and Environmental Management System. We have assisted clients in this effort by performing some or all of the following:

• Identification of legislative and regulatory requirements
• Identification of environmental aspects and impacts
• A review of current environmental policies, practices and procedures
• Employee training to improve environmental awareness, implement the EMS or improve specific environmental skills (e.g., emergency response).
